The Islamic Society of Augusta has been serving the Muslim community and the CSRA since 1976.

The Islamic Society of Augusta (ISA) is commemorating its 50th Anniversary throughout the year 2026.

For centuries, Muslims have been an integral part of the CSRA (Central Savannah River Area), significantly contributing to its cultural fabric and community spirit. Their enduring presence and meaningful contributions have shaped the region. Building upon this rich history, a dedicated group of Muslims took action in the spring of 1976, establishing the Islamic Society of Augusta. Today, this organization proudly serves and supports hundreds of individuals, continuing the legacy of inclusivity and service within the Muslim community and to the CSRA.

ISA honors our esteemed founders, our dedicated long-term contributors, and the Muslim individuals who have made substantial and noteworthy contributions to the broader CSRA community, and to the public at large, throughout the years. Contributions benefiting the general public have encompassed a wide array of fields, including, but not limited to, major scientific research, medical professionals, business ventures, education at all levels from public elementary schools through senior university professors, community service projects, first responders, military service, political engagement, and other impactful areas.

50th Anniversary Public Open House and International Food Festival

Saturday, October 3, 2026, 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm

The Islamic Society of Augusta members represent more than 30 distinct nationalities and ethnicities, making ISA an exceptional example of cultural diversity in the CSRA.

As part of our 50th Anniversary celebration, members representing many of these nationalities and ethnicities will host cultural displays and culinary exhibits featuring traditional foods, customs, and traditions from their respective cultures. Guests will have an opportunity to experience the many cultures represented within our Muslim Community and to celebrate the diversity that our community brings together.

Guests will be invited to explore the Islamic Community Center of Augusta, attend informative presentations about various aspects of Islam, visit cultural displays, sample international cuisine, meet members representing our diverse communities, and learn more about ISA’s history and its contributions to the region over the past 50 years.

Adam & Eve: Down to Earth – A Mission or Punishment?

In a previous session (Discover Islam at ISA Session 3: The Children of Israel in the Qur’an and their life in Muslim lands) we made a presentation on the prophets from the children of Isra’el mentioned in the Quran up to the birth of Jesus peace be upon him.

In this session we will present the events that preceded Jesus’s birth until his death as it is mentioned in the Qur’an

Discover how is Jesus represented in the Qu’ran.

What do Muslims think of Jesus.

Our fourth session in a new dialogue program, titled “Discover Islam” will be 7:00 pm Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Augusta’s First Islamic Center at 3416 Middleton Dr., Martinez, GA 30907.

The Islamic Society of Augusta invites our non-Muslim neighbors to join us in breaking the fast on Thursday March 21, 2024, at the First Islamic Center 3416 Middleton Rd., Martinez, GA 30907.

We will welcome our guests at 6:45 pm and the program will start at 7:00 pm.
There will be a short presentation titled “Ramadan, the month of the Qu’ran” (first time to be shown).
Breaking the fast & Sunset prayer at 7:40 pm.
The dinner will be served about 7:55 pm.
The program will be concluded at 9:00 pm.
The seats are limited, and reservations are required not later than March 14, 2024.

The Children of Israel are the children, and later descendants of Prophet Jacob (Isra’el). There are several verses in the Quran that inform us about the trials that Jacob and his descendants endured. The Qur’an also covers the story of Jacob’s grandfather Prophet Abraham and several prophets from his progeny.

Jews endured trials in the Christian lands, but they enjoyed safety and prosperity in the Muslim lands. This changed after the start of the Zionist movement, and the creation of the state Israel.
